My earliest memories are always centered around picking flowers in my mothers gardens. I would grab one of the glass bottles she collected and play around with any flowers I could find. Flower design is my passion. My shop is located in our 150 year old barn that in itself is full of character. I try to be a vendor who is easy and fun to work with. I am human and understand money does not grow on trees so I try my hardest to work within the client's budget. Each bouquet I create tells a story, each unique beautiful.

Helianthus and Lace is a wedding and event floral design business serving the deeply in love. Helianthus is the Latin term for sunflower and comes from the root Helio and Greek Helios, meaning Sun. As sunflowers are growing and beginning to bloom, they turn their heads towards the sun. I find this to be a great analogy for life - always look on the bright side. I grew up running around after my mom in her gardens and spent most of high school in the art department. I went off to design school and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. Soon after, I started my first “real” design job and have been working in the industry in either commercial or residential design ever since, giving me thirty-five years of design experience. A second related career in Floral Design was added to my skill set when I was employed as a part-time floral designer and trained at Longwood Gardens. I decorated twenty-one Christmas trees that year and did a lot of beautiful custom designs.

Hi, Holly here! Floral design is simply in my nature. I’ve been sharing my passion for flowers with my hometown of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas since 2016, and have created designs for countless weddings, special events, and celebrations. Ever since I was a young girl, I’ve always felt the most at home outside, in nature, around all the flowers. They bring so much joy and beauty to our everyday moments, and are the living furnishings that frame some of life’s most important celebrations. My world of floral creation is yours to explore, to have at the center of your wedding day design, and to hold close for each anticipated moment.

My whole life I have been inspired by all things beautiful and creative from the smallest wild flower, to incredible works of art. I try to embrace all beauty around me, into the work I do. I always knew an office job would not work well for my creative soul… this led me down many paths from carpentry, merchandising, interior design amongst many other pursuits… but the moment I made my first bouquet, I finally knew flowers were my ultimate passion. From that time on, I have never looked back into the rearview mirror, once I committed to becoming the best designer that I can be.
